Fly us to...Welcome to the whole C1 adventure! In this blog post we are going to put together all the experiences we shared together during our 1º training course, hosted in Sermugnano, Italy. In 5 days we made something really incredible happen: we created our own games, we prepared ourselves for the pilot coming and we shared our own visions about how to engage people together via games. It’s amazing to realize how much can be accomplished in 6 days with a great support and guidance. For us, that was provided by our facilitators, Mafalda and Regina from Muovimente Cooperativa Sociale and Innova Form. Our greatest challenge was to come up with a flexible structure that will guide us all into the next step of our journey, facilitating workshops of Game Based Development with youngsters from our own countries (aka PILOT). Do you want to take a walk around that we did every day to accomplish that? Come with me to Sermugnano… :) DAY 1 😳The first day was very engaging, we started with a walk around the beautiful village of Sermugnano and learned about the community. 📗We spent the rest of the day discovering about the #youthforyouth journey, the program content and, of course! Playing games! (Quite impossible ones tho 😜) 🥳welcome to the beginning of our adventure! DAY 2 🌻The second day aimed at stimulating our group’s creativity and sharing knowledge and experience. We started the day by talking about our favorite games and creating a game ourselves in just 30 minutes! 🌚The rest of the day was about exploring important elements of games but also significant definitions such as gamification, game based learning, serious games and educational games. ⭐️The day closed with a short presentation of each partner organization and their super powers! DAY 3 This day was full of creative power! Starting from the reflection about the values we want to promote in our games we navigate into the sustainable development goals, to match our games with them. 🌝🐾Then we jump into the creative rally to go deeper into the topics we choose to finish with a little bit of plot twist while merging the teams for our final destination: creating a game!😉 DAY 4 The partners got into the real job, as they had to design, divided into 4 teams, their own prototype games based on some of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’ s) adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015. The chosen SDG’ s were Extreme Poverty, Quality Education, Reduced Inequalities and Climate Action. ⭐️The day was full of inspiring talking, creative thinking, colors and materials combined all together for the practical implementation of the 4 games! DAY 5 Our journey in Sermugnano reached the final round! Imagine, after 4 days of intense game creation, interesting challenges and new inputs, we started play testing 🤩our own games!🤩 And that was exciting but also the best way to understand better our own creations and improve them, thanks to all the feedback from our participants. 😉Ready to meet our games? New Country 🏳️🔥 Sustainabees 🐝🤹🏻♀️ The 1,90 Dollar game 💰💵 Supporting tool box 👩🏻🎤👩🏾🏫 🧡Thanks to our facilitators Mafalda and Regina for this amazing and playful learning adventure!!

Summertime..."Summertime and the livin' is easy, fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high" as Ella Fitzgerald has sung. Our tribe is enjoying sunny weather and recharging its batteries before dim and gloomy times. In the meantime we are finishing reporting period and draft of first module for Digital Training.
We will be back to you soon! The second Webinar and working on the Digital TrainingOur second episode of the Youth 4 Youth webinar series is over! This time our partners helped our followers to explore creativity and language through play. Denmark facilitated an interactive session at involved sharing shortcuts to language learning while Spain guided us through a journey of sensory processes that unlocked your hidden potential for creativity.
Our first official Transnational Meeting...Our first official Transnational Meeting is behind us. It was packed days full of ardent discussions and constructive group work where we focused on: - evaluation of ongoing processes; - reflection on YFY’s successes and challenges we have faced so far; as well as - design of activities for the nearest future. Since the beginning the event has been planned to take place in Denmark, unfortunately because of prolonging covid-19 restrictions we decided to bring our adventure into the digital reality and host it online. Even though we still haven’t had a chance to meet face-to-face and our YfY tribe is spread across 7 different countries we felt connectedness and ownership over the project. Our hostess Anne facilitated the session where by going an image safary in the galaxy of the world wide web we created an imaginarium of Youth for Youth. Check below a collage of pictures and symbols that represented us and describes visually our mission, vision and goals. In the following session with Olga from Poland and Konstantina from Greece at the steering wheel we dived into a brainstorm on our needs and challenges. Again we found similarities in experiences such as an educational system that is not suited for educating youth for the 21st century as it often kills creativity. The wall between the formal and non-formal sectors is still standing yet initiatives are being taken for the sectors to gain experience from each other. Our journey continued under the flag of Italy and the watchful eye of mage Mafalda who facilitated discussion on experiences in the process of conducting the research for IO1. The landscape of game development in terms of knowledge communities, researchers and practitioners is vast and we have just scratched the surface. Partners were challenged with the limited time, they had to both perform research and write about 3 case studies for our country assessments. Despite challenges we also connected with many knowledgeable and extremely inspiring people and cases that gave our motivation and work with youth an energetic kick. Moving forward, our enchanter Carla from Portugal gave us a map for IO2 treasure. She presented a teaser about the educational offers at her university’s home page which will be our provider of IO2 - a digital training course built around game-based learning and game development. Already now we could dive into their digital learning environment and discover the pedagogical methods applied in the digital world. Before closure of the TM1 we overviewed the core duties of the next quarter and discussed the detailed dissemination efforts and strategies. It looks that partners were inspired and energised by the new knowledge and connections that was a driver for them along with our community of YfY-representatives. Let's figure how they felt: Decision is your if it was successful or not! The first Webinar and working on the Country AssessmentsThis weeks we all have been occupied with contacting local entities and looking for inspiring case studies for our first Intellectual Output, which is the Country Assessment! The first impressions are great and it looks like we are going to have a great overview of local practices on GDP and theoretical background for our Youth for next activities and the upcoming Digital Training. Especially our Mafalda (team Italy) and Konstantina (team Greece) are super busy these days because they are the ones hosting our 1º webinar ever! The 1º chapter is about exploring values and social inclusion via games. Join us on the 5 of March at 16:00 CET on ZOOM https://zoom.us/j/91233487804?pwd=ck5jYk5qNklNRFNCQTlUaGNubHhvUT09 W𝗘𝗕𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗥 𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦… 𝗢𝗡 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧? The YFY webinars aim to deepen the subjects at the core of #YouthforYouth through the direct experience and background of the project consortium’s members. Our partners are all very experienced educators, trainers and facilitators with different approaches to understanding and using games and GBL in their work: throughout the different episodes of the series, all of them will get to share the approach, tips and tricks of their trade! It is time to meet them.... 𝗘𝗣𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗗𝗘 𝟭: 𝗩𝗔𝗟𝗨𝗘𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗢𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗩𝗜𝗔 𝗚𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗦 During episode 1 we’ll have the opportunity to explore the reality and work practice of our first two partners: Challedu (Greece) and Cooperativa Sociale Muovimente (Italy). The nature of the webinar will be interactive and, alongside a general overview of our partners’ context and backgrounds, it will offer to participants the opportunity to engage in specific focus sessions, which will tackle the topics of how to promote values in games and examples of game development for social inclusion. What's right! we have instagram :) click hereThank you so much for your support! See you at the next post!
Our story and the logo processEvery story has to start somewhere. It almost doesn’t matter how you start, but it matters with whom you start it. So here is how Youth for Youth tribe came into existence…
A not long time ago the idea of the common European project around youth empowerment through games has germinated in the heads of Hungarian and Polish dreamers. To make this idea come true they sent a call for a joint mission - which brought in organizations of all kinds: schools, NGOs and universities. The tribe was created by unconventional people who like to sing, perform as clowns, create toys out of paper or have magic drawing skills. Some of them are full-time super mums. Together we bring a different piece of skills and knowledge to the table: game-related resources, know-how on inclusion via games, experience in democratic youth engagements. More importantly, we share the same values - we all believe in the power of games therefore we gathered and started to cook something great… Since we’ve started working together, a lot of things evolved, emerged and blossomed. Our Kick-Off Meeting became a departing point for our 2 years long journey, where we:
If you still do not believe just look at the designing process of our logo to realize It wasn’t a piece of cake, but the final version and creative journey to reach it was inspiring and empowering for our team ;) |
